The Mercedes-Benz 380 SE was a V8-powered luxury saloon from the W126 S-Class range and represented Mercedes-Benz’s response to changing economic and regulatory conditions at the turn of the 1980s. On the road, the Mercedes-Benz 380 SE delivered a calm, composed and confidence-inspiring driving experience. The V8 engine provided smooth, near-silent cruising and strong mid-range performance, while the suspension absorbed poor road surfaces with ease. Steering was light but precise, and the car maintained excellent stability at high speeds, reinforcing its role as a long-distance executive cruiser rather than a sporting saloon.
The 380 SE appealed to executives, professionals and private buyers who wanted V8 performance and full S-Class luxury without the size or fuel consumption of the long-wheelbase or larger-engined models.
